Behind the Booth at InfoComm 2026: An Interview With Epson’s Gavin Downey

THIS IS A PROMOTED POST

Epson Q&AInfoComm 2026 is about more than product launches — it’s about the people, strategies and ideas driving the next phase of the AV industry. In this Q&A series, exhibitors share what they’re showcasing at the show, the trends influencing their roadmap and the conversations they’re hoping to have with integrators, consultants and end users in Las Vegas. In this edition, we spoke with Gavin Downey from Epson.

Q: What trends or challenges in the AV industry most influenced what you’re bringing to InfoComm 2026 this year?

A: The biggest influences are the shift toward more flexible collaboration environments, the growing role of AI in meeting experiences, and increased demand for scalable, sustainable AV deployments. We’re also seeing customers move away from one-size-fits-all display strategies toward application-specific solutions—whether that’s projection, ultra-wide collaboration formats, or high-brightness direct-view displays in more challenging environments. For Epson, that means focusing on display technologies that can adapt to different spaces and use cases, while maintaining low maintenance requirements and long operational life through our laser platform.

Q: What specific solution, product or capability should attendees make a point to see at your booth — and what real-world problem does it solve?

A: One area we’re highlighting is how Epson enables large-format, ultra-wide collaboration and signage experiences that go beyond the limitations of traditional flat panels. That includes projection-based solutions like our PowerLite L-Series and BrightLink, but also a broader look at how different display approaches can be deployed depending on space, lighting conditions, and audience size. The core problem we’re solving is scalability—how to give users a display that fits the environment, rather than forcing the environment to adapt to the display.

Q: Where are you seeing the most momentum right now in the AV market — and how is your company positioning itself to meet that demand?

A: We’re seeing strong momentum in immersive collaboration, digital signage, and large-scale visual experiences, particularly where organizations are trying to standardize deployments across multiple locations.

At the same time, there’s increasing demand for higher brightness, finer pixel density, and modular display solutions in spaces where projection alone may not be the ideal fit. Epson is positioning itself to support that full spectrum—from projection to other complementary display technologies—so customers can choose the right solution for each application.

Q: For integrators, consultants and end users trying to navigate the show floor efficiently, what makes your booth worth adding to their must-visit list?

A: From an integrator or consultant perspective, what makes our booth worth visiting is the ability to see how different display technologies can be applied across real-world scenarios, rather than looking at products in isolation. We’re focused on showing how to solve for common challenges—ambient light, room size, viewing angles, and total cost of ownership—using a range of scalable, flexible display solutions that can be deployed consistently across environments.

Q: Without giving everything away, is there anything new or unexpected attendees should keep an eye out for at your booth?

A: Without getting ahead of announcements, I’d say attendees should pay attention to how we’re expanding our approach to large-format visual experiences. That includes not just pushing projection into new use cases but also exploring new ways to deliver high-impact, high-brightness displays in environments where traditional approaches have limitations. The goal is to give customers more options—and more flexibility—than they’ve had before.
