Just as I suspected, January is crazy busy for the #AVtweeps. The technology managers have been racing the clock, making necessary updates before students return to campus for the spring semester. Others are working out budgeting for the next year. Finally, some of us are frantically preparing for ISE 2023. At least it’s Friday, am I right?

Before you slam your laptop shut until Monday, look at Scott Tiner’s latest blog, which is all about the latest in AI discourse, ChatGPT. I am vehemently against any robot that tries to write better than I can (I’ve seen iRobot and M3gan — keep it away from me). Still, Scott brings up a few interesting points that make this an invaluable asset to technology writers and the like.

Over the past several months, ChatGPT has taken the techie world by storm. We have all seen bits on social media of “I asked ChatGPT to tell me about XYZ, And here is what it said.” This is followed by the amazingly accurate and human responses they get. If you have not tried it yet, you need to go get an account and test it out.

We cannot escape the fact that almost all work is collaborative in nature. The more collaborative the environment, the better the outcomes. Whether we are talking about a distributed team in Silicon Valley and India working on some software widget or a tire shop training new staff, collaboration makes things better. We learn and grow and expand our experience via those we collaborate with. Collaboration (no matter how we choose to define it) really only has one objective — to enable people to work. Better. Together.
