With the Kwikset app now available within Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, users can control compatible Kwikset smart locks through their vehicle’s display. Once a smartphone is connected to the vehicle, the Kwikset app appears alongside other supported apps.
Users can then select their home and tap to unlock or lock the front door. The app also allows homeowners to manage multiple homes and locks from one place.
According to Kwikset, the smart lock tool extends the convenience of the Kwikset app to the car, providing easy, key-free access from the front door to the dashboard.
“Homeowners want simple, convenient ways to manage access to their homes, especially during everyday moments like arriving in the driveway,” said Anujothi Dinakaran, software product manager at Kwikset. “By bringing the Kwikset app to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, we are extending smart lock control to the car and giving users an easy way to unlock or secure their door before they step outside.”
Kwikset said this capability builds on its focus on intuitive smart home solutions that combine trusted security with simple control.
