Theory Audio Design Now Shipping Five New Loudspeaker Controllers
Theory Audio Design officially announced it is now shipping five new amplified loudspeaker controllers. The eight-channel DLC-1500.8d serves as a new addition to its DLC Series loudspeaker controller lineup. The new PLC series includes two eight-channel and two four-channel models and utilizes Powersoft’s Class-D amplification topologies, SmartRail energy-management power supplies, Power Factor Correction and advanced DSP architecture.
Theory Audio Design said that the DLC-1500.8d aims to deliver 1500W into four or eight-ohms from any channel pair, or 800W into two or four-ohms all channels driven. It features upgraded high-current output Euroblock connectors that accept up to 10-gauge wire and four channels of Dante / AES67 audio-over-IP digital I/O, DLC-1500.8d to simplify deployment. The company also said that DLC-1500.8d can drive up to 32 Theory 16-ohm loudspeakers in Lo-Z mode, or over 300 direct in Hi-Z mode without the need for a transformer.
DLC-1500.8d can be configured with the DLC on-board web interface accessible via wired Ethernet or via its on-board Wi-Fi access point. The solution includes matrix mixing, priority audio routing and ducking, parametric EQ, delay, gain and limiter DSP objects in an effort to simplify system optimization. Full API and modules for AMX, Control4, Crestron, Crestron Home, ELAN, Josh.ai, Q-SYS, RTI and Symetrix are available.
The company said that the PLC four and eight-channel loudspeaker controllers are compact and aim to provide improved sound reproduction and advanced DSP capabilities. The four new Theroy PLC loudspeaker controller models include PLC-4K8, PLC-8K8, PLC-9K4 and PLC-16K4.
Key features of the PLC Loudspeaker Controller platform include Theory Loudspeaker presets, native Dante and AES67 Audio over IP networking, all-channel power sharing, three configurable 1Gb network ports with 1x PoE, as well as easy swap USB key amplifier restore and maritime compliance.
All five models are available now. At CEDIA Expo 2026, Theory will display the DLC-1500.8d and PLC Series in Booth 1300.
