Anthony James Partners Leads Modernization Project at University of North Carolina’s Kenan Stadium

Anthony James Partners (AJP) announced that is the Technology Consultant for a major project at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan Stadium. The company will complete upgrades including new end-zone videoboards, ribbon displays and a redesigned stadium-wide audio system. Renovations are currently underway with the project scheduled to be finished before the 2026 football season.

AJP said that the company provided technology planning, system design, procurement support and construction administration services for the project, working alongside university stakeholders, architects, engineers and technology vendors.

The two new end-zone LED displays measure 31.5 feet high and 106.5 feet wide with nine ribbon displays distributed throughout the seating area. The LED display network provides more than 10,000 square feet of digital canvas and over 14.7 million LEDs that can support live video, game statistics, sponsorship messaging and dynamic content presentation. The company said that the new systems were designed to support a wide array of content and operational requirements, aiming to provide flexibility and create additional sponsorship activation opportunities for UNC athletics.

The project includes the replacement of the stadium’s audio infrastructure. AJP’s design features a hybrid audio architecture with multiple distributed loudspeaker systems integrated with a large scoreboard-mounted point-source system that employs Fulcrum Acoustics loudspeakers. System control and performance is powered by steerable line source technology, Powersoft Unica cloud-based amplifiers and a QSC DSP platform.

“Kenan Stadium is one of the most recognizable venues in college athletics, and projects like this require a thoughtful balance between preserving tradition and delivering the technology that today’s fans expect,” said Michael Rowe, chief executive officer of Anthony James Partners. “The challenge isn’t simply installing bigger displays or a new sound system. It’s understanding how those systems will be used, how they support the fan experience, and how they create value for the university over the long term.”
