Genetec has announced new investigation capabilities in its Security Center SaaS platform aimed at helping organizations resolve security incidents more quickly across large, distributed environments.

Designed for enterprise deployments spanning multiple sites, camera brands and systems, the updated investigation experience connects evidence, context and case management tools within a single interface. The company said the enhancements are intended to reduce investigation times from hours to minutes while maintaining operator transparency and control.

Security incidents often extend across facilities, campuses and geographic regions, requiring teams to analyze data from thousands of devices. Traditional investigation tools, particularly those designed for single-vendor systems, can slow progress as teams switch between platforms or restart searches as new leads emerge.

Building on intelligent search capabilities introduced last year, Genetec has expanded its AI-powered natural language search to allow investigators to query video using everyday descriptions, such as approximate times, clothing details or visible logos. The system can search across multiple sites and camera vendors, then refine results using contextual information including location, surrounding activity and event sequencing.

“When an incident occurs, security teams must act fast and follow the investigation wherever it leads, even with limited initial details,” said Anne-Cécile Millot-Tournier, Product Group Director, Intelligent Automation, Genetec Inc. “Unlike tools built for closed, single-vendor systems, the new investigation capabilities in Security Center SaaS are built for enterprise environments, enabling teams to work across thousands of cameras, multiple sites, and mixed ecosystems without switching systems or launching separate searches as new leads emerge.”

The updated platform includes timeline preview tools that allow investigators to quickly scan footage and narrow time ranges without loading full recordings. Visual trajectory analysis helps track people, vehicles and objects across scenes, while similarity detection and entry and exit detection provide additional filtering options.

As evidence is identified, it can be consolidated into a case file within the system. Video clips, snapshots and related materials are organized chronologically and enriched with contextual tags. AI-assisted features, including automated video summaries, help investigators document findings and prepare reports for internal or external stakeholders.

Genetec said the unified investigation workflow allows security teams to move from live monitoring to active investigation and evidence sharing without leaving the platform.

The new investigation capabilities begin rolling out to Security Center SaaS users in February 2026, with additional functionality planned on an ongoing basis.
