J. Stevens BIM Acoustics Launches “System Designer” — A Revit Add-In That Automates Distributed Loudspeaker Design

Walhalla, SC — J. Stevens BIM Acoustics has announced the release of System Designer, an Autodesk Revit add-in that automates the layout and design of distributed ceiling loudspeaker systems directly inside the BIM environment. The software is designed to bring audiovisual system design into the same model-centric workflows used by architecture, structural, and MEP disciplines.
Designed for AV consultants, system integrators, and AEC professionals working in BIM workflows, System Designer generates loudspeaker layouts based on room geometry, ceiling conditions, and user-defined design parameters. The tool eliminates much of the manual drafting, design calculations, and coordination traditionally required when designing distributed ceiling loudspeaker systems in large facilities. The system uses model geometry and user-defined design parameters to generate consistent loudspeaker layouts aligned with BIM coordination workflows.
System Designer operates natively inside Revit and integrates directly with the building model, enabling designers to place loudspeakers, assign circuits, and coordinate equipment locations within the BIM workflow rather than relying on disconnected CAD or acoustic prediction tools.
“Distributed ceiling speaker systems are one of the most common elements in commercial AV design, but the layout process is still largely manual,” said Jerrold Stevens, founder of J. Stevens BIM Acoustics. “System Designer allows AV professionals to generate consistent, coordinated layouts directly from the BIM model, which can save significant time on large projects.”
The add-in supports automated grid-based loudspeaker layouts and integrates with model data such as room boundaries and ceiling conditions. The software also includes Lucius AI, an embedded assistant that provides contextual workflow guidance and in-application help within the Revit environment.
According to Stevens, the goal of the platform is to move AV system design closer to the model-centric workflows already used by architecture, structural, and MEP disciplines while dramatically reducing the time required to design and document distributed audio systems in large facilities. “BIM has transformed how buildings are designed and coordinated, but AV system design tools have lagged behind,” Stevens said. “Our goal is to bring AV system design fully into the BIM workflow.”
System Designer is part of the BIM Acoustics AV Tools Suite, a growing collection of Revit-based tools aimed at improving the efficiency and consistency of AV and acoustics design workflows.
The software is available for Revit 2022 and newer versions.
