LED Displays are becoming one of the fastest-growing segments for system integrators, but their popularity is also creating challenges for live productions and broadcasts. Broadfield Distributing Inc. has more than 40 years of experience in the broadcast world and knows that in order to offer a complete glass-to-glass experience you need a camera that can shoot against an LED wall without noise, moire or other artifacts and capture beautiful images. Broadcast and cinema cameras with Optical Low Pass Filter (OLPF) are perfect for these environments and virtual studios and that feature is now available in PTZ cameras as well.

In the fast-evolving world of live production, broadcast, house of worship, corporate events, and virtual production, having reliable, high-performance gear from trusted brands makes all the difference. Broadfield Distributing specializes in video production, streaming, and AV-over-IP solutions, serving dealers and integrators with in-stock inventory, expert support, and a focused portfolio that delivers results.

PTZ Cameras: Professional Power Meets Innovation

Pairing perfectly with Absen LED walls are broadcast PTZ cameras with OLPF. The Panasonic UE-160, the SONY BRC-AM7 and the BirdDog XL Ultra are all examples of the flagship cameras from each of the respective product lines with OLPF.

UE160

The Panasonic AW-UE160 is available for just under $15k and features a newly developed 1-inch 4K MOS sensor with exceptional high sensitivity (F14 at 2000 lx, comparable to studio cameras), making it ideal for challenging lighting in virtual setups. Its 20x optical zoom lens covers a wide 75° angle of view, while advanced Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), a new-generation image engine, and built-in moiré reduction via OLPF ensure clean, artifact-free images against LED walls. It supports SMPTE ST 2110 for seamless IP workflows, plus NDI compatibility, smooth PTZ mechanics, and waveform/level gauge tools for precise monitoring—making it a top choice for broadcast and live production demanding reliability and superior low-light performance.

BRCAM7B 003

The Sony BRC-AM7 has an MSRP just under $14k and is a compact, lightweight flagship PTZ with a 1-inch Exmor RS CMOS sensor (approximately 14 megapixels) and BIONZ XR processing for high-resolution, low-noise images with lifelike texture and color accuracy. It offers 4K60p capture, a 20x optical zoom (equivalent to 24-480mm), and Clear Image Zoom extending to 30x in 4K or 40x in Full HD. The integrated OLPF minimizes moiré on LED backgrounds, while built-in AI analytics enable advanced auto-framing and subject tracking for dynamic shots. Additional strengths include S-Cinetone and S-Log3 for cinematic color grading, variable ND filters, silent operation, and versatile outputs (12G-SDI, HDMI)—perfect for churches, events, sports, and XR environments requiring intelligent automation and premium image quality.

The BirdDog XL Ultra was just released with an MSRP under $7k and stands out with a massive 4/3-inch Sony CMOS 5K sensor for cinematic depth of field, exceptional low-light performance, and sharp detail, paired with a 20x optical zoom (up to 40x in HD). It includes OLPF specifically for reducing moiré in LED and XR production, along with built-in ND filters, genlock support, and HALO tally/e-Ink ID for professional workflows. A unique secondary 100° panoramic 1/1.8-inch ultra-wide camera provides dual 4K60 outputs simultaneously, enabling creative multi-view setups. With NDI HX3/HX2, 12G-SDI, HDMI, and USB-C connectivity, plus FreeD for AR/XR integration, it’s engineered for demanding broadcast, virtual production, and high-end AV applications where uncompromising visual excellence is essential.
