InfoComm 2026 is about more than product launches — it’s about the people, strategies and ideas driving the next phase of the AV industry. In this Q&A series, exhibitors share what they’re showcasing at the show, the trends influencing their roadmap and the conversations they’re hoping to have with integrators, consultants and end users in Las Vegas. In this edition, we spoke with Jim Vasgaard from Daktronics.

Q: What trends or challenges in the AV industry most influenced what you’re bringing to InfoComm 2026 this year?

A: The indoor market is continually exploring display systems that are brighter, offer better contrast, eliminate bezels, provide years of service support, and offer lower lifetime operating costs. They also desire a product that can be handled during service and installation without damage. LED technology is evolving from Surface Mount Diodes to Chip-On-Board LEDs and other LED technologies such as micro-LED, to provide robust, lower power display systems with greater reliability. We expect to see quite a few emerging technologies on display at InfoComm 2026. While it is not yet cost-competitive with OLED or LCD for consumer devices or miniLED COB for LED display systems, ongoing investments from big-name companies are rapidly advancing in the field. If manufacturing challenges are overcome, high yield rate and mass-transfer are realized, MicroLED will become the dominant display technology, offering superior color accuracy and image quality across a wide range of devices. We are very excited about recent breakthroughs and progress we have made in our journey developing and manufacturing Daktronics’ Active Matrix MicroLED and look forward to accelerating momentum in bringing true MicroLED solutions to the large-scale LED display market in the years to come.

Q: What specific solution, product or capability should attendees make a point to see at your booth — and what real-world problem does it solve?

A: We’d love to welcome attendees inside Daktronics booth #C9058 at InfoComm 2026 as we will be showcasing our COB dvLED, curved COB, digital street furniture, Daktronics’ Active Matrix MicroLED and demonstrating our patented Speed Frame display mounting system. Most notably, attendees at our booth will see Daktronics COB, which is true Chip-on-Board with Flip-Chip Architecture – a more robust and modern LED structure designed for long-term reliability. It uses a Daktronics-designed encapsulant with contrast-enhancing layers, pure blacks for vibrant colors and imagery offering:

• Impact resistance with dust and humidity protection
• A high-quality COB LED with superior reliability and low failure during display lifetime leading to fewer service calls
• Touch-safe surface—ideal for environments with frequent personnel interaction
• Higher contrast surface eliminates color wash of images
• Ability to provide product parts and support throughout 10 years of service of the life of the display

Q: Where are you seeing the most momentum right now in the AV market — and how is your company positioning itself to meet that demand?

A: Whether it be customers or Pro AV Integrators, buyers are looking for dynamic display systems with greater reliability, parts and service support beyond 5 years and a great looking display throughout its life. The litmus test is showing how this display will look and perform 8-10 years from now? Is it easy to maintain, and can everyone count on their supplier to be there for support in the future? We are committed to offering our partners competitive pricing, fantastic training, and easy-to-install and reliable products they can stand behind. We stock parts, and our service center is in place and ready to support our customers long-term.

Q: For integrators, consultants and end users trying to navigate the show floor efficiently, what makes your booth worth adding to their must-visit list?

A: We have expanded our COB (chip-on-board) product line pixel pitch offerings, so we invite integrators and consultants to come by and view our complete line of COB. We are also featuring the next expansion of our dvLED products to gather market feedback. We’re committed to the indoor market, and we’re growing our product lines to fit the AV industry and their needs. In Las Vegas, we’re showing an expansion of our COB product line and will be showcasing our MicroLED prototype product, which is still in development. We want to demonstrate our on-going expansion of all indoor direct-view LED (dvLED) products and look forward to the AV industry’s feedback. In addition, we are excited to introduce our COB kit product which is intended to help end users and integrators replace outdated projection systems. Those product lines include the COB product that was previously introduced at InfoComm but now includes a 2.5-millimeter pixel spacing, one of the first in the industry. Another product on display at the event includes Daktronics AFN bendable module to fit the curves and shapes of many different architectural needs. Continuing to enhance the experience for the AV market and installation teams, Daktronics Speed Frame mounting solution will be showcased as well. This advancement allows for quicker installation of dvLED displays while minimizing downtime for end users. Finally, showcasing advancements in MicroLED technology illustrates Daktronics’ keeping an eye on the potential for emerging technologies.

Q: Without giving everything away, is there anything new or unexpected attendees should keep an eye out for at your booth?

A: We feel the market is still slightly unaware of Daktronics indoor high resolution product line, and the unique advancements we’ve been making to our products and our team. InfoComm is the only domestic show singularly focused on audiovisual integration, and we invite attendees to stop by, meet our team, and learn more about some of our latest products and how they can be used to inform and entertain your customers in a wide range of applications. Our AV partners and clients will see our COB dvLED technology, flexible COB panels, digital COB street furniture, LED floor display, Daktronics’ Active Matrix MicroLED and can demo our patented Speed Frame display mounting system. We’re excited to feature our curved AFN series, which leverages our Flip-Chip COB LEDs, where red, blue, and green LEDs are mounted directly to the display, eliminating the need for wire bonds and the traditional packaging found on other LED types like SMD and IMD. Each AFN tile features a flexible printed circuit board enclosed in a rubber housing. This allows the tile to conform smoothly to both concave and convex surfaces, thereby providing the no-compromise curved LED surface that many cutting-edge AV installations demand. In addition, we are thrilled about recent breakthroughs and progress we have made in our journey developing and manufacturing Daktronics’ Active Matrix MicroLED and look forward to sharing several prototype solutions at our booth this year.
