Focal Launches Scala Utopia Evo M Speaker

Focal officially introduced the Scala Utopia Evo M, a major evolution of an iconic model in the Utopia range. The hi-fi speaker is made in France and features innovations – the PRISM tweeter and the M-profile W midrange.

The company said that the Scala Utopia Evo M retains the same 3-way architecture as Scala Utopia and now integrates technologies from its most recent developments. The featured M-profile midrange combines a W cone with sandwich structure and a one-piece M-profile geometry. The solution aims to provide rigidity and ultra-linear frequency response as well as low distortion.

The PRISM tweeter was recently introduced in the Diva Alta Utopia and made its debut on the Scala. The new generation high-frequency cone is based on a multi-material combination and an advanced micro-structuring process, aiming to provide improved rigidity and maintain a balance between lightness and damping. It is also coupled with IAL2 technology.

The Scala Utopia Evo M features Tuned Mass Damper suspension (TMD) that serves to limit cone deformation and reduce distortion. It also includes a W woofer that has been redesigned to employ a dual-ferrite motor in an effort to deliver powerful, deep, controlled bass. The solution also utilizes Optimum Phase Crossover (OPC+) for bass and treble adjustment and Gamma and Focus Time technologies for temporal consistency and mechanical stability.

Focal said that the Scala Utopia Evo M continues Focal’s tradition of excellence with French design and production. The wooden cabinet is made by the brand’s cabinetmakers in Burgundy and the drivers are manufactured at its acoustic workshops in Saint-Étienne. Its patented technologies also originated in France, including PRISM.

The company said that the Scala Utopia Evo M is designed to pair with Naim electronics amplification and streaming solutions. The Scala Utopia Evo M will be available beginning August 2026 in five premium finishes.
