rAVe [TV] Transcript — Episode 260: Displays, Connectors and the Moon I Guess
Gary Kayye (00:47)
That’d be us welcome to rave [TV] The industry’s only AV industries only live weekly TV show and we got a lot going on this week with not just rave TV which Comes to you live at rave pubs comm YouTube comm slash rave pubs X ⁓ And where else am I miss I’m linkedIn right they get everything. Yep. Yep. All right,
Steph Beckett (00:49)
That’d be it.
Mm-hmm.
LinkedIn, yep. I think that’s all of the places.
Gary Kayye (01:14)
Yeah, we used to do on Facebook. I don’t think we do that anymore, right?
Steph Beckett (01:17)
I don’t, does, who’s on Facebook
at 9 a.m. Eastern though? Like, not me.
Gary Kayye (01:23)
Yeah. I mean, think if you were,
if we’re, we’re in the consumer, like I’ve gotten a lot of the face, I’ve gotten a lot of my Artemis stuff off of Facebook because the, the stuff is this, you know, Instagram and you and Tik Tok and such, they, they lower the resolution of whatever’s posted, right? It’s the maximum resolution is 1000 by 1000. Whereas Facebook keeps everything at native resolution. they, they, they, the photos that
Steph Beckett (01:33)
⁓ yes.
Gary Kayye (01:52)
NASA’s posting and others are posting are much much higher on Facebook than any other platform So I’ve been spent a lot of time on that watching. I don’t know if you’ve been doing that or not, but it’s pretty awesome
Steph Beckett (02:01)
Nope, have not. Honestly, I’ve
been too stressed out about what’s going on on Earth. I have not even ventured into looking into what’s going on in space.
Gary Kayye (02:08)
I have not even ventured into looking into what’s going on. I
think you’d really like it. The astronauts have had really good messages back, putting everything into context. It’s kind of interesting. But yeah, so I’ll give you the highlights. How’s that?
Steph Beckett (02:28)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, please do.
Gary Kayye (02:30)
We shot a rocket off to the towards the moon, right? Right. Last Thursday or Friday, whatever day it was. I have to remember now, Wednesday, maybe I can’t remember what day it was. Yeah, it was Wednesday, Wednesday night. And it shot off right on time, 6 24 p.m. And it circled the earth and did a figure eight to circle the moon. So it kind of crossed its path and went back around the moon. So the thing that’s unique about this step is
Steph Beckett (02:34)
Okay.
Okay.
Gary Kayye (02:59)
This is the farthest humans have ever flown away from earth because they went about 4,000 miles further than Apollo 13 accidentally went. If you know the story of Apollo 13, which got kind of stuck in space for a little while. yeah, but it happened in real life. The movie was, was the dramatization of it. Yes. And so, yeah. And so like Apollo 13 and all the other Apollo,
Steph Beckett (03:14)
Yes, and that’s the Tom Hanks movie.
Well, yes, but I know it. I know it by the Tom Hanks movie.
Gary Kayye (03:28)
missions that went around the moon, you lose communication because there’s no satellites and you’re blocked. know, if you don’t have direct line of sight to earth, you can’t communicate because you know, you have to bounce off a satellite or something like that. ⁓ and so they lost communication for 40 minutes, 41 minutes, exactly. And, it was, you know, it was anticlimactic because everyone knew they were going to come back around and basically they’re,
Steph Beckett (03:42)
huh.
Gary Kayye (03:53)
They’re going around the moon and they’re going to slingshot off the gravity of the moon, which they’ve already done to head back to earth and they’re heading back to earth. They land on, on a Friday night. But what’s neat about it is every other time we sent astronauts around the backside of the moon or what’s known as the dark side of the moon songs have been sung about it. Yeah. Okay. Um, is every other time they haven’t been able to take pictures cause it’s too dark. So no one’s, you know, they’re very little pictures of the
Steph Beckett (04:03)
Okay.
I like the album.
Right.
Gary Kayye (04:24)
of the dark side of the moon, the side of the moon that doesn’t face earth. ⁓ and so they took very high resolution cameras and ironically, iPhones, and you could see all the video and the iPhones are producing some of the best photos, which of course Apple is using the hell out of it. ⁓ and, and they just stick their iPhones out the window, but it was completely dark inside the cabin and they’re able to catch, you know, shots of craters and the dark side of the moon. And, and I don’t know if you know this stuff, but the moon,
Steph Beckett (04:25)
right.
Gary Kayye (04:53)
although it’s rotating, know, it’s going around the earth, it doesn’t rotate like earth does. So the same side of the moon is always facing earth as it goes around earth. Okay, so we’ve never seen the backside of the moon and we now have pictures of it and what they have, there’s things they’ve discovered, like it is literally different because it doesn’t get the sun that, and of course that’s where we want to land, you know, and pardon that part of it because,
Steph Beckett (05:00)
Right.
Yes, I did know that.
great.
Okay.
Gary Kayye (05:23)
There’s water, right? Because it’s frozen, there’s ice, we can get water.
Steph Beckett (05:25)
Yes. Yes. there
are, it’s like when they were on the moon before, they looked at the craters and the way that the craters were, could tell that there’s water there.
Gary Kayye (05:37)
Yeah, they could see the parts that are not at the sun or frozen kind of, but so the Artemis two doesn’t land on, the moon Artemis three practices, which goes up at the end of this year, beginning of next year is going to practice docking with the spaceship that’s going to land on the moon. Okay. And then Artemis four is when we do the first people, which will be beginning at 2028. And then after that we do 16 moon landings in about five years. And that includes building a base.
Steph Beckett (05:41)
Yeah.
Okay.
Gary Kayye (06:07)
on the moon. by 2034, we will have a moon base with people living there. And there’s logic and reason behind it. It’s not just for fun. It’s pretty interesting what they’re planning on doing. And of course, as you know, I’m big into space. So yeah, it’s going to be really neat.
Steph Beckett (06:07)
Okay.
Mm-hmm.
Okay. Yeah.
Gary Kayye (06:31)
I guess we should brag a little bit here. One of the, one of the astronauts grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina and went to NC State. So as a North Carolina connection, and that’s Christina, the only female astronaut there. And she’s of course, the, you know, the female who’s no other females gone to the moon. Right. So she’s the, you know, the first, it’s pretty awesome, you know, and it’s been, it’s been a really cool thing to watch. And I’ve been watching all of the live coverage, like
Steph Beckett (06:36)
yes.
Yeah.
Yes.
Gary Kayye (06:57)
You know, they’ll break in and they’ll talk to the astronauts. Yesterday, President Trump talked to the astronauts. The president of Canada talked to the astronauts or prime minister of Canada. I should say talk to the astronauts. ⁓ know, it’s they’ve been sending back messages every day, multiple times a day of their thoughts, because, know, it is a weird thing to be in something the size of a large passenger van. like, you know, those 18 passenger vans that you can rent. like that size. But there’s four people living in there. So.
Steph Beckett (07:07)
Yeah.
Yeah, like
that the Mormons have for all their kids.
Gary Kayye (07:27)
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, there’s big Mercedes van thing. It’s like that size. Yeah. But yeah, I mean, I was thinking about it last night as I was watching the press conference of them. were talking and I was thinking, man, wow, what? mean, like 20 years from now or 10 years from now, they’re going to be hanging out together and like they have a bond that no other humans have. Right. by the way, the commander of the whole mission, one of the coolest
Steph Beckett (07:33)
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Gary Kayye (07:58)
really touching things that he did is within one month last year, his mother died and his wife died. Okay. And they named a crater, ⁓ on the moon for his wife and they did it live. And it was, and his two daughters were, were, were, you know, were basically talking to him live while he was naming it. And the other astronauts were there.
Steph Beckett (08:04)
Mm-hmm.
my god.
Gary Kayye (08:25)
they were all in tears. It was
Steph Beckett (08:25)
Well, that’s nice.
Gary Kayye (08:27)
really touching. So it’s Crater Carroll, because her name was Carol. She died of cancer. ⁓ you know, so he’s at, he’s up there commanding it. He’s a single dad. His both his kids are, I want to say they’re, they’re young teens. ⁓ Yeah. So it’s, it’s pretty, there’s been some moments like that, that are pretty touching and sort of like inspiring. And I think people who are paying attention to are really inspired because, you know, the views
Steph Beckett (08:36)
Okay.
Wow.
Gary Kayye (08:53)
The views, like they have one, you know, the famous shot of a moon, of a, of a earth rise that was taken in 1968 of a, yeah, of the astronauts standing on the moon and seeing earth rise on the horizon. They did the exact same kind of shot, but in this case you can see the moon in the foreground because they’re on the other side of the moon. It is a beautiful shot. I have to see if I can grab that one. Maybe while you’re catching everybody up.
Steph Beckett (09:01)
I think so, yeah.
Cool
So
the purpose of this is to just start a bunch of moon missions to make the base there.
Gary Kayye (09:27)
⁓ Kind of, yeah. So they know they can land on the moon. They know that everything’s going to work. But of course, NASA is obsessed with testing everything. So this mission was to test everything. Does everything work exactly the way it’s supposed to? you know, if they landed the module, would it have landed exactly where it was supposed to land? And did they have control of it the entire time? Because they’re, you know, they’re obsessed with testing everything before they actually do it rather than just going there and doing it.
Steph Beckett (09:39)
future.
Mm-hmm.
Gary Kayye (09:52)
But the thing that is unique about this is every country is participating, including countries that we currently don’t have great relationships with. Like Russia is part of this, you know, and Canada’s part of this, even though, you know, they’re our direct neighbor, that makes a lot of sense, but one of the four astronauts is a Canadian astronaut, first time ever that a Canadian astronaut has gone to the moon. ⁓ India is part of this. mean, like, there are countries all over the world, the UK, France.
Steph Beckett (09:53)
Well, probably fair.
Alright.
Mm-hmm.
Gary Kayye (10:22)
They’ve all, they’re all part of this. They’re participating. have experiments. They have people as part of this. They’re all part of this thing. It’s sort of like uniting everyone considering all the stuff’s going on around Earth where everyone is sort of behind this globally. it’s sort of transcending the culture of the environment that we’re in right now. And everyone is feeling really good about this.
Steph Beckett (10:25)
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay, well
that’s good to know. Thank you for telling me about it because I really only knew that we were going to the moon and I didn’t know anything else and I didn’t understand why we were going to the moon because we’d already been there. So that was all I knew.
Gary Kayye (11:01)
Well,
I’ll send you a link if you’re interested in reading it, because it’ll talk about the next 16 missions and what they’re doing and why they’re doing it, ⁓ what we get out of it, because they have very specific deliverables and things. As an example, Congress approved the spending for this under the auspices that everything, and there’s going to be a lot of stuff sent up to the moon that are unmanned missions as well. I’m only talking the manned missions.
Steph Beckett (11:06)
Okay.
Mm-hmm.
Gary Kayye (11:30)
Like they’re going to send drones up to the moon. They’re going to send power convert, ⁓ conversion systems up to the moon. They’re going to send explorers to the moon. ⁓ like buggy explorers that are automated. one of them. Congress said has to have a live streamed camera. So anybody can log in and watch what’s going on at any moment in time. And that is super cool.
Steph Beckett (11:54)
That is cool.
Gary Kayye (11:54)
So
one of the first things that’s going to the moon at the end of this year is the UK is sending up a bunch of for these missions, sending up a bunch of satellite transmission systems that land on the backside of the moon so that from now on, when we fly around the backside of the moon, we will have communications. They’ve built these special transponder systems that bounce and send signals so that we will never lose signals on the backside of the moon. And by the way, the internet connection to the
Steph Beckett (12:08)
Mm-hmm.
Alright.
Yeah. Yeah.
Gary Kayye (12:24)
to the spaceship is half of what it is in your house. That’s how fast
it is. Pretty good. It’s a 500 ⁓ megabit connection as opposed to a one gigabit connection. Yeah, very fast. So the images and the streaming coming back is pretty awesome. It’s a nine second delay. So it’s not much different than using YouTube for a live event. Yeah.
Steph Beckett (12:32)
⁓ yeah, that’s not bad at all.
All right. Well,
hey everyone, I hope you’ve learned something so far like I have. ⁓ Yeah, no, I love that. I love that you’re passionate about it and you’ve taught us all something about it. So, okay, to move on, Gary, told you, I talked to you about the fact that I wanted to change the way that our Best Of Awards are, because we have historically never charged for
Gary Kayye (12:46)
Yeah, as you can see, I’m excited about it.
Okay, to move on.
Steph Beckett (13:12)
entry and that is changing only for the best of awards and I wrote a letter kind of justifying why we’re doing this and explaining that it’s because it’s like a judged process now and it’s gonna be a lot more like official and ⁓ kind of just I don’t know it’s just different it’s just more structured and I liked the way our awards used to be but I did just kind of want to make them a little more structured a little different. ⁓
Gary Kayye (13:34)
And I liked the way our awards used to be, but I just kind of want to make them a little more structured, a little different.
Steph Beckett (13:42)
And I wanted to ask if you were mad at me for changing this.
Gary Kayye (13:43)
and I wanted to ask if you were mad at me. No, not at all. Actually, you know, the award, what you’re doing, what you’re doing, you know, you’re the editor now and you’re in charge of the publication and I don’t want to meddle in that. And I think the decision you made is a good one. You know, the thing is when we started that we were the ninth
Largest publication in the industry. Okay, so we were there were a lot of print publications and a lot of even even some small online ones that were bigger than we were like literally I was last place right and then And then of course, you know We we were about in the middle for like almost a decade But now we’re the top publication like more people read us and pay attention to what we’re saying You know watch our shows than any other publication. And so we
Steph Beckett (14:09)
Mm-hmm.
Gary Kayye (14:32)
We have ⁓ a duty to evolve ⁓ as we do things differently. And so the fact that we’re going to use multiple judges from the industry rather than just our editorial staff is a big change. And I like that change because it means that we’ll have some input, but also people who are using this stuff every day will have input. And the fact that we have to pay them and we have to, you know, we have to pay for the whole process means that it’s going to be, ⁓
Steph Beckett (14:45)
Hmm.
Gary Kayye (15:00)
I think more professional and I think it’s better for us as we grow and we represent the market. We need to do it professionally and I think this is the right move. Now, of course, I don’t like having to charge people, but I think this is where you have to go to ultimately do this level of professionalism and ⁓ it is what it is. There’s a reason why you’re young and I’m old. The market evolves. The greatest invention
Steph Beckett (15:27)
Yeah.
Gary Kayye (15:29)
the greatest invention of all time is life, right? mean, and as youth comes along, they wanna do things differently and you have to move along with them. And I love your decision. I think it’s a right decision.
Steph Beckett (15:43)
Thank you. I was expecting to get a lot of hate
mail about it and I haven’t. So maybe everyone was just kind of expecting this at this point because we were the only publication still that wasn’t charging for any awards. But if you do have questions about it or questions about the process, the application is now open. It is live on RafePubs. It is also in the navigation window. You can scroll, like look, it says awards. The application is right under there.
Gary Kayye (15:47)

Steph Beckett (16:08)
So go ahead and apply. And of course you can ask me any questions, but we have been pretty clear about like, are you eligible? What
does this look like? What are the categories that is all there for you? So enjoy and good luck to everybody entering. Before we continue, we are going to go into a quick commercial from our sponsor and partner Crestron on the AD Series touchscreens. Gary and I will be right back.
Gary Kayye (16:16)

back.
Steph Beckett (17:52)
Alright, let’s get into the news. Gary, do you want to do the magnet?
Gary Kayye (17:52)
All right, let’s get into the news. Gary, do you want to do the
magnet? Sure. Yeah. So let me pull up my little notes here because I don’t want to miss anything. Yeah. And a lot of stuff going on today, Yeah. So the magnet display, MAGNIT, is LG’s very high-end.
Steph Beckett (18:03)
Now you’re good.
Mm-hmm.
Gary Kayye (18:16)
LED. Well, they’ve come out with a new version of it, the 2026 version, like every year they’ve kind of made improvements. And they’ve also with the magnet product, they’ve continued to simplify the installation process. But the 2026 model has better contrast, deeper blacks, of course, when you have better contracts, naturally, you’re going to get better blacks, better whites. They say color reproduction is better. It’s using line to dot technology, which means that you won’t get that Moray effect.
That sometimes you get and it is now 120 Hertz frame rate And so that you know accommodates more video kind of content and Yeah, so I think you know the magnet like everyone’s seen it right? It’s that thing that greets you at the LG booth at every major show of course at Infocom some of these companies aren’t having boosts like they were I think LG might have a booth, but it may not I think that what they’ve decided to do is do
Steph Beckett (19:00)
Yeah.
Gary Kayye (19:12)
not much products and do it in a meeting room. you know, make sure you pay attention to that. We’re going to cover that whole show though. But yeah, if you want to read all about the 2026 magnet micro led, cause it is a micro led product like the Sony C led and others, ⁓ Samsung on the wall. you can just go to Raypubs.com right now. The story is there.
Steph Beckett (19:19)
Okay.
Yeah,
exactly. So this company called Trail Boards introduced this new thing called the All-in-One Free Initiative. I think it’s pretty cool. This is a platform that is designed to turn any smart TV, Fire Stick, Chromecast into this revenue generating asset. But here’s the thing, it costs small to medium sized businesses $0 and offers them free content management.
Gary Kayye (19:41)
This is a plot.
Firestick Chromecast into this revenue generating assets, but here’s the thing it costs small to medium sized businesses zero dollars and offers them free content management
Steph Beckett (19:59)
mobile device management, content from YouTube Premium and Twitch. And basically this is supposed to eliminate the hardware and subscription barriers that kind of plague parts of the industry and those small businesses that can’t necessarily afford a
Gary Kayye (19:59)
mobile device management content from YouTube premium and twitch and basically this is supposed to eliminate like the hardware and subscription barriers that kind of plague parts of the industry and those small businesses that can’t necessarily afford
Steph Beckett (20:15)
very robust content management system. So I actually think that this is very cool.
Gary Kayye (20:15)
a very robust content management system. So I actually think that this is very
cool. Yeah. So as you know, everyone knows Neutrik for the connectors ⁓ and the XLR form factor. now have Neutrik has their own versions of using the XLR connectorization for every other kind of signal, including HDMI and data for network signals.
Steph Beckett (20:29)
Mm-hmm.
Gary Kayye (20:43)
That connector, everyone likes it because it has a ⁓ lock-tight fit, can even be waterproof, which these are. And these handle CAT 6A 10 gig ethernet connections, which is AV over IP, which means that instead of having wall plates with all different kinds of connectors, you can standardize on one connectorization. We actually did that here at UNC at the business school.
⁓ All the connectorization is using this noitric ⁓ connector which even has which encompasses in that case USB-C and HDMI. So yeah, so check it out. That’s on our website. Of course, if you’re already a noitric dealer or you’re buying through a distributor, you can go there as well. And I think we got another message from Shure. In this case, it’s the importance of security in the physical age. This is an area of the market Steph that a lot of
Steph Beckett (21:10)
nice.
Gary Kayye (21:36)
We, you and I’ve been talking about for a few years that integrators should get into the security space. I didn’t you have a, didn’t launch week have a security day? didn’t we do that one time yesterday? Okay.
Steph Beckett (21:37)
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Yes, literally yesterday we talked about security
all day long, both physical and cyber.
Gary Kayye (21:51)
So this message is perfectly timed. So check this out from shore.
It’s doing the thing We are being told by her we’re being told by our yep, you ever watch when you’re driving into work and you’re sitting at a stoplight and You’re bored and you pull up a Facebook video and it starts playing and then it freezes and it starts playing Instagram does the same thing like That’s what’s happening. It’s one of those things called buffering, right?
Steph Beckett (22:01)
and we’re rendering. And we’re rendering. We’re rendering.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah.
This is what, yeah, this did this to
me yesterday during launch week too. I think I tried to tee up a video and it took it quite a bit of time. Okay.
Gary Kayye (22:30)
Yeah, it’s a thing that all
video things go through.
Steph Beckett (22:36)
Okay.
All right, and we rendered. ⁓ am I here?
Gary Kayye (24:21)
All right, and we rendered. ⁓ am I here?
Yeah, you are. I think we’re here. It’s just our preview thing is kind of weird. hey, Steph, did you know that ADI is doing the 2020, they’re doing a 2026 tour, kind of like what some of the other distributors have done. ⁓ can you hear me okay? Are we good, Emily? Okay, good, good. ⁓
Steph Beckett (24:42)
Yes, I’m hearing a lot of things. Okay.
Gary Kayye (24:47)
So they launched the tour details. ⁓ They’re going to go to 28 different cities in the U S and Canada. They’re going to be one day experiences. ⁓ and you know, it’s a regional tour. The tour begins actually began yesterday actually, ⁓ in Nashville, Tennessee. I wish I had gone to that. That would have been kind of fun to go to. but it also includes stops in Toronto, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Anaheim, Teaneck, New Jersey. Who doesn’t want to go there? No offense to those people. And, ⁓
Steph Beckett (25:06)
yeah.
Yes. ⁓
Gary Kayye (25:15)
San Jose, Arlington, LA, Chicago, New Orleans, even Charlotte, North Carolina, Edmonton,
Steph Beckett (25:17)
god. Yeah. Yes.
Gary Kayye (25:22)
Canada. I want to go, hey, ADI, I want to go to the Edmonton, Canada one, so invite me. Oklahoma City, Raleigh, Austin, Seattle. Yeah, yeah. There you go.
Steph Beckett (25:29)
Yeah, you can go to the Raleigh one. It’s usually like down the road from me. It’s usually like
it’s Raleigh, but it’s usually more like R-D-U, R-T-P area. So it’s usually like, but yeah, I went last year. It was cool. You should, you should come.
Gary Kayye (25:39)
Yeah. But yeah, I went last year. was cool. You should
talk. All right. So, ADI, invite me to the Edmonton one, the New Orleans one, or the Montreal or Vancouver one. How’s that? There you go. That’s probably what you’re… Yeah. The food in New Orleans is amazing.
Steph Beckett (25:49)
Okay. my God. I actually want to go to the New Orleans one too.
I’m going there this year for a bachelorette trip. I’m so excited.
Gary Kayye (26:02)
Very cool. Make sure you shoot video of it. The back bridge. Yeah. Yeah. You always do crazy things on those trips. That’d be fun.
Steph Beckett (26:05)
The Bachelorette trip?
Jesus Christ, okay. So let’s talk about Sony’s new depth sensor. It’s now available. ⁓ This is basically among the world’s smallest and lightest according to Sony. mean, you know, that’s the rendering of it, so it will allegedly fit in the palm of your hand. ⁓ So a little over an inch tall, an inch wide, and an inch deep.
Gary Kayye (26:14)
Please.
This is basically among the world’s smallest and lightest according to Sony. mean, you know, that’s the rendering of it. So it will allegedly fit in the palm of your hand. ⁓ So a little over an inch tall, an inch wide, an inch
deep, including protrusion. And basically it’s aluminum enclosure and it’s designed for basically integrating it into like
Steph Beckett (26:33)
⁓ including protrusions and basically it’s aluminum enclosure and it’s designed for basically integrating it into like those
mobile robots, those guide vehicles, anything where you need it to be able to sense depth so it doesn’t like bump into stuff essentially, like inspection drones, things like that. So it’s interesting. I didn’t know Sony was getting into that.
Gary Kayye (26:43)
those mobile robots, those guide vehicles, anything where you need it to be able to sense depth so it doesn’t bump into stuff, essentially, like inspection drones, things like that. So it’s interesting. I didn’t know Sony was getting
into that. Actually, I see Sony’s had that for a while because it also helps with ⁓ image depth perception as well so that you get higher resolution detail. ⁓ of course, everyone…
You know, professionally, the Sony cameras dominate, you know, a segment of the market. Not, know, obviously the astronauts not only are using iPhone stuff, iPhone 17 pros, ⁓ but they’re also using a Nikon DSLR cameras. that’s what they chose to use. And in the coolest thing that I have saw, ⁓ kind of on the fly was one day they were, they were talking about how, they’re on a break. The astronauts are on a break and they’re having a snack.
Steph Beckett (27:41)
Mm-hmm.
Gary Kayye (27:41)
and they go
Steph Beckett (27:42)
Mm-hmm.
Gary Kayye (27:42)
live to the cabin. This literally happened. And Christina Cook, who’s the lady on the astronaut, she’s sitting there eating and here comes a jar of Nutella slowly like going by, almost like it was an ad, but it was like, but the logo is like right there. It floats by cause you know that everything’s weightless. my, you gotta, you gotta Google it. You’ll see the video of this. What a commercial, of course.
Steph Beckett (27:58)
That’s perfect. That’s the best ad space you can get. Okay.
Gary Kayye (28:10)
I looked at, I saw it, I was watching it live and within 10 minutes, no exaggeration, I went to Nutella’s site, nothing, within 10 minutes on Instagram they posted it, even great in space or something like that I think was the tagline. ⁓ anyway, I think we have some pictures of ⁓ Earthrise, right? Do we have the ability to show those Emily? Because I think I had mentioned that earlier about these are pictures taken from Artemis from Orion.
Steph Beckett (28:10)
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah.
Ha ha.
Alright, let’s… ⁓
Boo yayayaya
Gary Kayye (28:39)
⁓ Look and they’re there, you know in this case about a thousand miles above the moon And that’s the earth rising as opposed to the moon rising and that cool Yeah
Steph Beckett (28:45)
Wow.
That’s cool. Do you think you
could get that framed and put it in your house? Would you do that?
Gary Kayye (28:54)
I know I would love to, you know what’s neat about this? All of the images are ⁓ open source. I don’t know what the right term is, ⁓ copyright free. So anyone can use them and nobody can claim ownership of them and keep people from using them. So yeah, I definitely will probably take them. There’s some great pictures of some craters. Anyway, we gotta keep moving. So Xtron is shipping the UCS910 series of twisted pair USB 5 gigabit.
Steph Beckett (29:02)
Yeah.
That’s Yeah.
There’s some great pictures of some creatures.
Gary Kayye (29:25)
extenders and you know obviously you know more and more installations are being done this way right I mean we’ve got AV over IP but also you know HDBaseT still existing in applications as well and this is using you know standard twisted pair cable but allows you to do 5 gigabit you know it’s an extension system right so if you need to take USB and extend it right you know how
Steph Beckett (29:50)
Yeah.
Gary Kayye (29:52)
We’re locating cameras remotely and one of the hardest thing to do is extend USB video and audio and control and that’s what these are. It’s a transmitter receiver ⁓ set. So it’s for point to point applications.
Steph Beckett (30:05)
Absolutely. So we got a new CEO among us. So Meow Wolf. I don’t know if you guys are familiar with that company. They’re kind of the they’re an American company. They’re very arts and entertainment, large scale, very interactive and immersive experiences, which is where they kind of tend to fall into a V a bit. But they have a new CEO. It is Matthew Hennick. So they announced this right before they’re going to have an LA exhibition and then a

They’re like one of those companies that like people even outside of our industry know because they’re so immersive. So yeah, congratulations to them. And these kind of experiences are just gonna keep growing.

So check out this piece. We’ve shown this before, but we want to show it to you one last time. The new pre-configured LED systems from Viewsonic.
Steph Beckett (33:03)
All right, we got a little more stories here. Okay. All right. So, Nureva has another tour. We just talked where a lot of people are touring this year. This is the HDX on tour event series. So, it’s in both Europe and North America. This is supposed to give attendees like a look at Nureva’s newest line, which is the HDX line of full featured audio systems. They’re going to start in Switzerland. They’re going to make stops in Paris, London, Manchester, Munich, Cologne.
Gary Kayye (33:04)

to get attendees like a look at New Aruba’s newest line which is the ACX line of full featured audio systems. They’re gonna start in Switzerland, they’re gonna make stops in Paris, London, Manchester, Cologne,

Gary Kayye (33:48)
Like a first look at the HDX and how
it works. All right. So if anyone’s ever wanted to have touch version of Macintosh, because you know, Apple’s never done that, right? Display Note Technologies has touchback for AirPlay devices. So if you’re if you’re wirelessly streaming and you want to turn a use an interactive display without having to use the mouse on the laptop, they actually have that now. So if you’re if you’re a user of their platform, the Display Note Technologies platform, then
Steph Beckett (33:58)
Yeah.
Gary Kayye (34:17)
That’s now integrated into the platform.
Steph Beckett (34:20)
Which is cool. So good for teachers, good for anyone who wants to be able to airplay easily in the
classroom if that is your preferred method of sharing. I know Epson lets you do that with their projectors, but most other things don’t let you do that. finally, touch, yeah. So okay, case study of the week.
Gary Kayye (34:29)
So I know Epson lets you do that with their projectors, but most other things don’t let you do that. Well, this also adds touch. This also adds touch, right? that you, yeah. ⁓

We got a full DPA microphone arsenal to record the live music for Sinners. I don’t know if you guys saw this movie. Amazing film, so good. Gary Kayye (35:26)
Yeah. And that won the, uh, the Oscar for best movie or best picture. yep. So any case we got one last announcement, just a reminder for you to join us this week for LAVNCH WEEK 13. Usually 13 is an unlucky number, but
Steph Beckett (35:29)
Yeah, and it was, it was so good.
Gary Kayye (35:42)
Guess what? We’re using it now and after that it won’t be used again. So get over it. We only have two more days of launch week 13. That’s today and tomorrow. Today is UCC day, tomorrow is Pro AV day. I hope I got that right. 1230 to three-ish, three-thirty-ish. You can continue to get CTS credits. I think it’s two and a half or so a day. And you get CTS, CTSI, and CTSD, RUs.
Steph Beckett (35:44)
Yeah? Yeah.
Yep.
Yeah, two and a half per day. if you come to… Yeah.
Gary Kayye (36:10)
So if you haven’t registered yet, just go to launch.com, L-A-V-N-C-H.com, go ahead and register for that. yeah, when people said that online events were going away, I kind of laughed it off. I was on a call one time where someone major in the industry said that no one wants to go to a webinar anymore. And I was like, okay.
Steph Beckett (36:34)
Yeah, but they do.
I mean, it’s…
Gary Kayye (36:37)
700 people to join me on a webinar for Almo Pro AV. So yeah.
Steph Beckett (36:41)
Yeah, and
it’s not the same as it was during COVID, you know, where people didn’t have anywhere else to go but online, but I don’t think online events are ever gonna completely die. And by the way, if you come during Pro AV Day, we have a special giveaway from our sponsor of the day, ViewSonic. They are giving away three ViewShare WP900 wireless screencasting kits. So that’s a $200 value. You’re about to get it for free.

Steph Beckett (37:33)
This is normal, I think.
Gary Kayye (37:44)
this week, is today and tomorrow as well. And of course we’ll be back with rAVe [TV] again next Wednesday live again. And I look forward to seeing you all. Thanks for the support and thanks for watching us.
Steph Beckett (37:55)
Sounds good. Thanks, Gary. And thank you guys.
