Sony Electronics Inc. announced its AS-DT1 LiDAR Depth Sensor is now available for purchase through Sony distributors.

The company said the new depth sensor is among the world’s smallest and lightest. It measures in at approximately 1.14 inch height x 1.14 inch height x 1.22 inch depth, excluding protrusions. It weighs approximately 1.6 ounces, making it ideal for space and weight-constrained applications.

The product is housed in a compact aluminum enclosure, and is designed for integration into larger solutions such as autonomous mobile robots and guide vehicles, inspection drones and other advanced sensing platforms.

IT is powered by Direct Time of Flight LiDAR technology and a Single Photon Avalanche Diode sensor. The AS-DT1 is designed to deliver fast, accurate three-dimensional distance measurement. This allows for easy accommodation of low-contrast and low-reflectivity objects. Its long-range measurement supports up to approximately 132.23 feet indoors and approximately 65.6 feet outdoors under bright conditions. This enables reliable performance in varying environments.
