HIVE announced the release of HIVE v1.3, a software update that the company said expands the creative and technical capabilities of its media server platform.

According to HIVE, the release introduces a series of enhancements designed to increase flexibility, improve interoperability with third-party systems and support deployment in more complex environments.

At the core of the update is an upgrade to layers and mixes, enabling more sophisticated real-time compositions. Users can now combine multiple layers and mixes simultaneously, with support for up to eight layers and four concurrent mixes. This aims to allow content, live inputs and overlays to be managed dynamically across different screens and scenarios.

HIVE said this expanded capability strengthens its position in demanding immersive experiences, themed attractions, live events and commercial spaces where flexibility, control and the ability to manage multiple content sources are necessary.

The release also includes security and deployment updates, including the move to SSH key-based authentication. HIVE said this makes its devices more secure and better suited for deployment across corporate and public networks.

Additional updates include enhancements to pixel mapping, synchronization and timing accuracy, expanded NDI workflows and support for high-bandwidth 10Gb ST 2110 environments.

“Version 1.3 significantly expands what users can do with the platform,” said Dave Green, chief technical officer at HIVE. “It’s a continuation of our ecosystem evolution – bringing more flexibility, broader compatibility and ultimately more value to customers across a wider range of applications.”
