Siemens Acquires Precision Innovations

Siemens officially announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Precision Innovations Inc., a privately held electronic design automation software company. Siemens said that this expands its EDA portfolio with AI-powered chip planning capabilities that aim to help semiconductor teams optimize power, performance and area earlier in the system-on-chip design process.
“Becoming part of Siemens allows us to scale our technology and bring AI-driven chip planning to a much broader set of semiconductor teams,” said Tom Spyrou, chief executive officer, Precision Innovations. “Together, we can help designers leverage AI to evaluate thousands of design options earlier in the process and focus innovation where it matters most.”
Precision Innovations develops EDA software built on the open-source OpenROAD framework in an effort to help semiconductor teams evaluate design and accelerate time to market. Siemens believes that the acquisition will complement its digital design and verification solutions by allowing for faster feasibility and more informed downstream decisions.
Siemens said that Precision Innovations will join the company as a key addition to its Digital Design Creation software. Siemens believes Precision Innovations’ solutions will enhance its EDA offerings across digital design and verification workflows, allowing the company to help customers address growing design complexity and improve engineering productivity.
Closing of the transaction is subject to customary conditions and is expected within the third quarter of calendar year 2026.
