DMF Lighting introduced two additions to its residential lighting portfolio at Lightapalooza 2026: the Artafex 1 one-inch architectural downlight and the Artafex PhaseX Gateway with Ethernet.

The Artafex 1 is designed as a one-inch aperture fixture suitable for whole-home lighting applications. DMF said small-aperture fixtures have traditionally been limited to accent lighting due to output, glare and serviceability constraints. The company positions Artafex 1 as a solution capable of supporting ambient, task and accent lighting throughout a residence.

The fixture features what DMF describes as a 3-Stage Optic system (patent pending), combining glass and silicone optics to manage glare while maintaining output. The downlight delivers up to 1,000 lumens and includes a 35-degree adjustable beam with a gear-drive tilt mechanism designed to allow secure aiming, including during hot adjustments.

Artafex 1 is powered by DMF’s PhaseX digital lighting technology and supports tunable white lighting. PhaseX provides centralized control, flicker-free performance and dimming down to 0.1 percent, according to the company. The system operates over standard electrical wiring and is designed to support new construction, remodel and retrofit projects.

Installation is supported by a universal AC-to-DC remote driver capable of powering one to five fixtures at distances up to 100 feet. An integral DC regulator delivers constant current at each fixture. DMF said both the regulator and light module can be serviced from below the ceiling plane without disturbing finished surfaces. The fixture is available with TRIAC or PhaseX dimming.

In addition to the downlight, DMF introduced the Artafex PhaseX Gateway with Ethernet, expanding its PhaseX digital lighting ecosystem. The new gateway adds direct Ethernet connectivity, eliminating the need for separate DMX control boxes typically used in digital lighting systems.

By removing external DMX hardware, the company said integrators can reduce control hardware requirements, streamline system design and lower overall project costs while improving long-term reliability.

“Through collaboration with control manufacturers, we’re able to remove DMX control boxes from PhaseX installations, reducing cost,” said Mike Libman, Sales Vice President, Custom Integrators, DMF Lighting. “By bringing Ethernet directly into the Artafex PhaseX Gateway, we’re eliminating that extra hardware and giving integrators a cleaner system architecture that simplifies commissioning. It’s a smarter, more efficient way to deliver digital lighting control.”

Commissioning is handled through DMF software and can be completed over Wi-Fi. The gateway also offers native integration with Control4 and Crestron control platforms, with additional integrations in development. DMF said it will continue offering the original Artafex PhaseX Gateway alongside the Ethernet-enabled model to support systems that do not yet provide native integration.

The Artafex PhaseX Gateway with Ethernet is expected to be available in early Q2. Both products were showcased at Lightapalooza 2026.
