Kwikset Launches Aura Reach Smart Lock With Matter and Bluetooth

Kwikset announced the launch of its Aura Reach smart lock on Monday, introducing a new residential access solution that combines Matter and Bluetooth connectivity for smart home automation and local control.
The Aura Reach is designed to support hands-free entry and simplified setup for homeowners integrating connected devices. According to the company, features include auto-unlock functionality, a proximity-activated keypad and guided installation through the Kwikset app.
“Our simple setup complements Matter’s ease of use by providing education and guided onboarding,” said Jeff Sandoval, director of electronics marketing at Kwikset.
Kwikset said the lock uses Bluetooth and geofencing technology to automatically unlock as users approach the door, while the keypad illuminates when it senses nearby movement. Dual connectivity allows for direct local control via Bluetooth as well as whole-home connectivity through Matter-enabled platforms.
The Aura Reach also includes Kwikset’s SmartKey Security technology, which allows users to rekey the lock without removing it from the door. The company said the feature is designed to help protect against advanced break-in techniques while giving homeowners flexibility if access needs change.
From a hardware standpoint, the lock combines smart home functionality with an ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 certified deadbolt. It will be available in Satin Nickel and Matte Black finishes.
The Aura Reach is compatible with major Matter-enabled smart home ecosystems, including Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home. It works with both iPhone and Android devices. Through the Kwikset app, users can manage access codes, receive notifications for invalid code attempts and review entry history.
Kwikset said the Aura Reach will be available through major retailers with a suggested retail price of $189. The company positions the product as part of its broader push to expand Matter-based offerings within the residential smart home market.
